      Archival science, or archival studies, is the study and theory of building and curating archives, which are collections of documents, recordings and data storage devices.. To build and curate an archive, one must acquire and evaluate recorded materials, and be able to access them later. To this end, archival science seeks to improve methods for appraising, storing, preserving, and cataloging. The Northeast Document Conservation Center specializes in paper and book conservation. NEDCC performs conservation treatment for photographs, books, prints, documents, maps, and globes. NEDCC’s professional conservators also treat architectural plans, parchment, papyrus, wallpaper, and works of art on paper including charcoal drawings and watercolor paintings.

      During this session, representatives from the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA) and the Council of State Archivists (CoSA) shared their perspectives on how the US public sector COVID response is positively and negatively impacting the ways that electronic government records are captured, accessed. Government Records. The Council of State Archivists (COSA) hosts an Archives Resource Center that features tools and resources designed specifically for state and local government records. National Association of Government Archives & Records Administrators (NAGARA) has published several Local Government Records Management Technical Bulletins.
